2-1-1Â HELPLINE
You can connect with the CA Community Services Helpline by dialing 211 on your phone or by visiting their website below. Whether you are in need of assistance from a community partner for food, transportation, housing, legal advice, or more throughout the year, 211 can help connect you with what you need.

JESD VIRTUAL CALMING ROOM
This Virtual Calming Room is a place for students, staff, and families to find tools and strategies for managing emotions and feelings. Students - your JESD School Counselors want you to know that your feelings are valid, no matter what they are. You might feel worried, overwhelmed, grateful, or completely calm. Your feelings are normal.

GSA
GSA is a space for LGBTQ+ students and allies to connect, talk about issues unique to this community, and identify ways to make school a safe and welcoming place for all. Meetings are driven by student interest with faculty sponsors providing support and facilitating as needed. GSA welcomes any student or faculty member to attend!
MINDFULNESS AND MEDITATION
Mindfulness and meditation are great ways for children and teens to connect to their mind and body in a new way. By becoming aware of our feelings, we can learn to cope with big emotions as they come up. Here are some apps that your family may find useful - some are free while others require a subscription, but all are secular. Find a practice that works well for you and your family!
DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP
Common Sense Media is my FAVORITE resource for learning about Digital Citizenship (aka, how to be a good person online). They have also launched a website, Wide Open School, that has compiled digital learning resources and other useful tools for families to use while schools are out.

TALKING ABOUT RACE
Children learn from what they see, what they hear, and what they do, so the adults in their lives must be actively anti-racist. The National Museum of African American History and Culture has published an incredible website of resources that could help your family have an effective conversation about race.
